How to Use
One mist, one blade, about two minutes.
What's in your kit
- 1 × Hair Identifier Spray — 100 ml / 3.38 fl oz
- 4 × facial razors — 14.8 × 1.5 cm each, folding head over a guarded blade
Before you start
Your face needs to be clean and completely dry. The mist settles on the hair rather than the skin, and that only works on a dry surface. Damp skin is the most common reason people can't see anything.
Light matters too. Stand beside a window so the light comes across your face rather than straight at it — the hairs cast small shadows and stand out.
The four steps
Clean and dry. Wash your face and dry it fully. No serum, no moisturiser, no makeup.
Mist from 5–7 inches. Hold the bottle about a hand's length away at a 45° angle and spray in short bursts. No need to shake it first. You'll get a fine, even veil, and the hairs you couldn't see will show up against it.
Shave what you can see. Hold the skin taut with your free hand. Take the razor across in short, light strokes at a low angle. Let the blade do the work — pressing harder doesn't remove more, it just irritates.
Rinse and go. Wipe or rinse with water. Nothing to scrub off, no residue left behind. Then carry on with whatever you normally use.
Getting a cleaner result
- Work in small sections rather than long sweeps.
- Rinse the blade every few strokes so it doesn't clog.
- Go with the direction the hair lies, not against it.
- Stop before the skin starts to feel hot or tight.
Looking after the razors
Rinse under warm water, shake off the water, and fold the head closed before you put it away — that's what the folding head is for. Let it air dry rather than leaving it in a wet shower.
Blades dull with use, and how quickly depends on how much area you cover. Keep your razor to yourself: like any blade that touches skin, it isn't for sharing.
How often
We don't publish a fixed schedule, because how often people dermaplane varies a lot by skin type. Start with once, see how your skin feels over the next few days, and go from there.
Safety
- For external use only.
- Keep away from open flame.
- Don't use on broken, irritated or sunburned skin, or over active breakouts.
- If your skin stings, reddens or feels irritated, stop and rinse with cool water.
- Patch-test on a small area first if your skin is reactive.
- Keep out of reach of children.
